NEW ARTISTS
We are so happy to add recycled products to our online shop! Adam Hunt is helping to support local people through his art by hiring them to collect recyclable scrap metal around the island and then teaching them to make beautiful saleable creations out of it. The idea literally took off and became what is now known internationally as "Rusty Fish".
Meet Adam and his crew, and read all about it HERE

GRADUATION DAY!
About a year ago my friend Zenola called me and asked if I had any donation money left from our Canadian friends because there was a woman in desperate need of help. Her husband was in jail on the mainland, she was 8 months pregnant and couldn't work, and had eight children, four of whom were supposed to be enrolling in school, but couldn't because they had no money for uniforms.
Well I immediately jumped in the car, went over and picked up the four school aged kids, took them to a local shop and bought them all outfits, backpacks and school books. We paid their tuition and got them all in school. Then we went and bought them a few weeks worth of groceries.
Now one year later, their whole lives have turned around. The Mom is working, two of the girls Angela and Cristy, whom you can see on the front page of our online shop, are making jewelry to help pay the bills. What a privilege it was to be asked to be the Padrinos (God-parents) for Angela and to walk up the aisle with her as she graduated from grade 6 with a 98% average, and receiving a medal for her outstanding scholastic achievement!
Please pray for this family though, as they have lost their rental home and are separated around the island into the homes of relatives. The new baby is showing signs of having Down syndrome. We are trying to find a parcel of land to have Alternative Missions build them a home on. But they are learning to trust God daily and have great joy in their lives...so thank you God for being a Father to this fatherless family!

PERSONAL GROWTH...
For the poor and needy of Roatan life is very much day to day survival. Most do not think about tomorrow. If they sell a bit more in a day, they go for chicken, and if not then it's rice and beans, if they eat at all. Regardless, each day begins at zero and ends at zero!
Part of our mission to 'supplement the financial condition of as many people as possible' is to help them save and plan ahead. We try and instill faith in God and trust for a brighter future, full of hope and joy. We wanted to share with you just a few highlights we are seeing now as fruits of this labour.
Yourgin now has the financial capability to purchase larger and more beautiful jade rocks from the mainland...
Angela and Cristy have asked me to hold back small amounts of the money they receive from their jewelry-making sales, in order to purchase a laptop computer for school next year (Here the public school year commences in February, after rainy season)...
Joan, who makes the beautiful crocheted bracelets with her daughters, has asked me to hold back all her money until December 15th so she can buy some Christmas gifts for her girls for the first time ever...
Through our shop here in Roatan and the online store, Zenola and Marco have been able to acquire another van for their Island Tours business CLICK HERE and hope to build a small room on the back of their home...
Helping people begin to think counter-culturally has great challenges, but the rewards are greater still and we thank God for the joy of participating in His work of personal spiritual and economic growth in the lives of many here on the Island! Glory to God in the Highest!
