Our Mission & Purpose
Bob and Debi Cowan were both raised in separate parts of Ontario, Canada; both had dramatic conversions to the Christian faith in the midst of darkening lifestyles, and then were brought together by God in Banff, Alberta. Since their marriage in 1982 they dedicated themselves to pastoring four different Canadian churches, and Bob taught for 4 years at Briercrest Bible College in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Through a variety of wonderful circumstances they discovered Roatan and sensed a call to come and help the Island’s poor and needy. The “Made in Roatan” Gift Shop, and now this special online shop, are just two of the many projects God has prompted them to pursue to benefit many Island families through the sale of their local arts and crafts.
One of Debi’s passions is photography, which you can see here displayed for sale. The proceeds, of course, are circulated back into the lives of Islanders, to stimulate ongoing economic prosperity. Bob loves to work with the many species of Honduran hardwoods and is helping local woodworkers to export lumber products worldwide.
It is our hope that the demonstration of our faith in Jesus Christ will prompt others to discover for themselves the joys of a relationship with God through a living and active faith in Jesus. It truly is 'more blessed to give than to receive' and we thank you for your support through this little 'Made in Roatan' online shop! To read more, go to: http://www.madeinroatan.blogspot.com
